Logo, branding and/or corporate identity development is an important part of your marketing and communications, and should be reviewed periodically.
What makes a 'good' logo or brand?
In simple terms it needs be appropriate to your business and it's marketing objectives. It should reflect who you are and how you want to be perceived. It needs to be distinctive. It needs to work in all likely applications. Most importantly, it needs to make an impression on your target customers.
Different approaches depend on the current status of your existing logo/branding. There may be value in your existing logo and it's history – in which case a 'refresh' or 'evolution' may be appropriate – or a whole new approach is called for (as it would for a new logo).
Thoughtful consideration of the brief, fonts, colour and graphic elements all form part of the direction.

branding, brochures, corporate stationery
IEMML needed to develop it's own unique branding, but still adhere to an existing logo and general branding guideline that applied to all Medicare Locals. Working under the direction of IEMML's Communication Manager, GND developed a distinctive variant that could be adapted to all manner of corporate, communication and service collateral. This included stationery, newsletter, a series of brochures, certificates, postcards, banner, calendar and posters.
more > GND has sourced images on behalf of IEMML, developed a complimentary colour palette, and provided general advice and suggestions about suitable print and supplier solutions.
“Grant worked with our organisation to successfully develop a unique brand concept and implement it across a range of products. I would highly recommend him to any organisation looking for a designer who is professional, client focused and delivers innovative solutions.”

branding
Fabienne approached GND to develop branding, business card, letterhead (Word template) and Powerpoint masters for her start up consultancy. Having already sourced a logo and a pictorial element she was pretty happy with, Fab wanted them 'evolved' into a professional look. GND refined and modified the supplied logo image to add a more sophisticated look, and provided a range of font style options to accompany it. Business card design proposals followed, and based on a final choice, a Word letterheadh template and sample Powerpoint master pages were prepared. GND provided low cost printing of the business card, and a logo and design element 'toolbox' for Fabienne's ongoing self-publishing and promotional use.
“Thanks Grant - very happy with the outcome - all looks very FAB!”

give a care
branding, stationery, booklet, van signage, display
GAC was a niche, start-up provider looking to work with clients eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. They needed a logo and initial branding (bus card, letterhead and email tag, along with basic style guide) that was distincitive and positive, to help them launch into the market. Based on a comprehensive brief and a preference to use the 'Ankh' symbol in some way, GND developed a number of concept proposals, including a character that represented both 'Ankh' and the concept of juggling different issues and services. The logo and core stationery work was turned around in 4 weeks (over Christmas). GND also helped 'workshop' the tagline - a team effort - prepared indicative web layouts for the client to consider. Internal forms, pull up banner, services booklet and van signage have subsequently also been produced.
“Just a quick thank you for all your great work with us over the last month or so.
Also thank you for jumping on board so quickly with what Give a Care is about and how we want to present ourselves to the world ... it was lovely to end up with a group of great people working together and coming to an end product that that we are all very, very happy with."

As part of an organisation-wide rebranding project, SEMML asked GND to refresh the design of it's staff and stakeholder newsletter. The rebranding need to conform to the existing Medicare Local guidelines, but SEMML wanted it’s own distinctive variation that could be progressively applied across all organisational collateral and stationery. GND provided some sample redesigns of core items for approval, then applied the new branding elements (including a new secondary colour palette to complement the original) across all subsequent projects, including newsletters, postcards, annual report, specific campaigns etc. GND also supplied the printing of many of the items produced.
southern stockfeeds
packaging, branding, stationery, ads, invitations, folders, merchandise, signage
Southern Stockfeeds had an existing logo which they wanted applied to a new design for BOPP packging of their stockfeed products. GND refined the logo, and created additional graphic elements (a 'sunburst') to first create the BOPP design, then progressively apply to a range of stationery, signage, advertising, merchandise and one-off invitations etc. GND also facilitated the design of and building of the SS website. GND has also provided Word templates, printing and final art services for much of what has been produced for Southern Stockfeeds.
"Thanks for guiding us through the branding and marketing issues, and further enhancing our brand and market presence - we are really happy with the look and the process."

samantha deasy homeopath
logo, business card & brochure
Sam was looking for a new approach to presenting her homeopathic practice, based on the use of a 'spiral' she has seen, and her preferences in colour. GND presented Sam with a number of options, variations and suggestions before refining a final logo, type and colour combination. This was then applied to the development of a business card and explanatory DL brochure to provide to prospective clients via waiting room display. Based on leading Sam through a basic marketing discussion about her target market, the issues around 'selling' homeopathy and her professional and personal approach, GND developed and wrote all the key statements and detailed written content for the brochure. GND also provided the digital print and print management of all items.
van de pol stockfeeds
logo, stationery, packaging & signage
The van de Pols required a new logo when they renamed Essendon Produce, to better reflect their business (retail and feed mill arms) and it's new direction. Focussing on their long family history and old-style Aussie values and service, GND based the logo on a photo of 'grandad' and a 'rising sun'-type effect, coupled with more modern, distinctive colours and type.
GND created various logo variations to suit different requirements, and to provide VDPS with a 'bank' of files for their ongoing use. We then developed business cards, stationery and signage, followed by a new range of BOPP laminated feed bags, plus other items including shop and vehicle signage, ads, leaflets, brochures, invitations etc. GND provided the new name 'Pet, Horse & Farm', and provided input into all written content. Print was also provided – both digital and offset.
glenroy osteopathy hub
branding, website, print
GOH is a start-up enterprise, offering high quality osteopathy care in Melbourne's north west. Osteopath Aidan Siandis was looking for a distinctive, fresh, clean and sophisticated branding and image to reflect his personal, professional and high care approach. Aidan had a certain aesthetic in mind as far as his new premises was concerned, so we focussed on a look and feel that would complement that. Logo, business cards and a letterhead template (in Apple's Pages) were created, and a logo 'toolkit' of files for ongoing use, including clinic signage. GND also designed, edited Aidan's supplied text and images, and built GOH's new website (using Wix to enable Aidan to manage much of the subsequent changes needed).
"I’m very impressed. All good from my end. Overall, I love it. I like the “less is more” approach and the consistency. Just logged in to the website. It’s all looking really good to me. Very user friendly and it all fits well."
